Ayurvedic educator and Consultant. He earned a BA in Psychology and a MA in economics. In the 1980's he began to learn about Ayurveda through the works of Deepak Chopra and took a self-pulse course from Dr. Raju in Fairfield, Iowa. Dr. Chopra, acting as president of Maharishi International Institute of Vedic Science (MIIVS), invited him to participate in a two-year master's level curriculum in Maharishi Ayurveda in 1991, Cambridge, Mass., which he completed in 1993. While in this area he trained and worked at the Lancaster Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center, under the guidance of Deepak Chopra, MD., Jay Glaser, MD, and John Douillard, DC, giving panchakarma treatments and lecturing and teaching Ayurvedic principles of health to hundreds of guests. He continued academic studies for the next 7 years with Dr. Vasant Lad, BAMS, MASc., at The Ayurvedic Institute, Albuquerque, NM, completing the Ayurvedic Studies Program (ASP) and several iterations of Gurukula. Other studies include Jyotisha / palmistry (Vedic astrology) with Hart deFouw and principles of Vedic Ecology (Sthapatyaveda or Vastu Shastra) with Sashikala Ananth, and Ganapati Sthapati, and cranial therapy. |

| In 2000 Michael was selected to teach the re-formatted ASP I at The Ayurvedic Institute, as well as, Ayurvedic Lifestyle the following year for ASP students. For advanced students he designed and taught numerous courses including: Ancient Texts--about the classical literature of Ayurveda, Ayurvedic Herbology I, II, The Gunas (20 attributes), Ayurvedic Pulse Assessment, and he assisted students in a clinical skills development course. During this time he also presented at numerous seminars at The Ayurvedic Institute including various topics in herbology and pulse. He was a teacher of Ayurvedic Herbology at The North American College of Botanical Medicine for several years and also taught at The East-West Institute of Alternative Medicine, Cambridge, Mass., Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute and Yoga Mandala, Berkeley, Ca, Everglades University in Boca Raton, FL, and for Kerala Ayurveda Academy (several locations). In 1998 Michael spent a few months in India studying informally with numerous vaidyas. |
| Michael has been an Ayurvedic Consultant, counseling the healthy and ill in the Ayurvedic approach to healthy living practices. He has seen several thousand clients around the US and India and presents seminars and gives talks on various topics. Now located in the West Palm Beach area he has founded the Dhanvantari Ayurveda Center and Ayurveda Education Programs. The mission * for the Dhanvantari Ayurveda Center is to spread the spiritually-oriented health message of Ayurveda. Presently located in Palm Beach Gardens, our facilities are in a start-up mode, hopefully to become a full-fledged clinic in the near future. Services presently emphasize diet, lifestyle, and food supplement guidance; as there are many healing modalities within the Ayurvedic treatment spectrum, such as yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation, sense therapy, astrology, and so on, these may be utilized, too. Ayurveda Education Programs' mission is to provide an academic approach to those interested to study Ayurveda. Clarita Cabanas is a Diplomat in Acupuncture, Licensed Acupuncture Physician and Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant with experience in pain management. She also holds a BS in Health Sciences with specialization in Fitness and Wellness, with strong experience in wellness, nutrition, fitness training and coaching. She has been an educator for Reebok University working as a Reebok Master Trainer international presenter from 1992 to 2002. |
Clarita was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After graduating from high school in the year 1982, she studied Optics at the University of Buenos Aires, and graduated in 1990. At the same time, she trained in martial arts and became a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo (ITF) in 1982, becoming a martial arts instructor. Her love for martial arts and physical conditioning propelled her to pursue studies in Physical Education, for what she got her first BS in Physical Education (Wellness specialist) from the Private Institute of Physical Education in Buenos Aires, year 1992, with post graduate studies in Sports Medicine and Body-Mind integration. At this time, she started teaching methodology classes in Physical Education Colleges and working for Reebok University as an international presenter (Reebok Master Trainer). |

| During the 10 years she traveled internationally, she also wrote several articles related to the Fitness Industry, filmed instructional videos and participated in TV programs. |
In the year 1997, she moved to the United States, Houston, TX where she studied English at Rice University. She worked for a Fitness Facility as Staff Development Director, International Fitness and Wellness consultant and Medical Fitness for special populations. |
In the year 2000, Clarita moved to Orlando, FL where she first received her AS in Physical Therapy (2004), performing her internships in the Acute, Subacute and Outpatient Neuro Rehab settings, and finally working in Pain Management. |
Not satisfied with the Western Medicine approach to diagnosis and treatment, she then pursued studies in Chinese and Integrative Medicine at Florida College of Integrative Medicine, where she received her second BS in Health Sciences and her MS in Oriental Medicine. |
Related to the non academic setting, she was initiated and trained in TM (Transcendental Meditation) in the year 1993, becoming a meditator since then and now practicing various methods. Her training in Energy Work involves Pranic Healing, Kathara Bio-Spiritual Healing, Qigong Shaolin Eighteen Lohan Hands, Medicinal Qigong, crystal therapy, aromatherapy, toning, Homa Therapy and Shamanism. Clarita is a Reiki Master Teacher (Usui lineage) and SSQF Qigong Level 3 Instructor. |
Currently, Clarita Cabanas is the owner of Sacred Element, LLC where she practices Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine, Nutritional Counseling, Lifestyle Coaching, Wellness Programs, Qigong and Energy Work. She integrates her knowledge in biomechanics, postural assessment and pain management into her holistic approach to treatment. |
Her sub company, Hijo de la Tierra, is dedicated to treating and educating children and their parents, offering organic products and programs related to environmental awareness, healthier ways of living, and holistic preventive medicine in an attempt to promote awareness in the community to raise happier and healthier kids. She is developing the Gaia Project that will include organic gardening, composting, recycling, Green living and basic herbology. |
